The Iowa State University and Drake University football players not only traded their pigskin for a basketball, but also played the game in wheelchairs! The Drake football players came ready to win again this year and Iowa State players gave them a good fight. Drake won the game with a score of 38 Drake and 20 Iowa State University. The players enjoyed their time supporting the local not for profit organization, Candeo, as they learned how to play basketball in the wheelchairs.

The very talented Sydney Lett, sang the National Anthem for the approximately 275 people that attended. Entertainment also included the Triad USAG Gymnastics Team routine in between the quarters. To help pump up the crowd, members of the High Voltage dance team along with mascot, Surge, from Iowa Energy throw out giveaways from sponsors of the event. At the end of the third quarter, client, Treasa  Bittner gave a powerful speech regarding her journey to independence with Candeo supports.

A big thank you to all of our sponsors and hardworking volunteers for making this such a great event: Community Choice Credit Union, Walmart, Team National/Mike Lantz, Rotary Club of Ankeny, Small Business Resources, Shane & Jennifer Greenleaf, Dickinson, Mackaman, Tyler & Hagen, P.C./ Megan Erickson, Gerry & Pam Bair, Jerry & Connie Carney, Kyle Jackson, Silver Printing and Promotions, Hammer Medical Supply, American Solutions for Business/ Mike Snyder, ISU & Drake football players, Sydney Lett, Iowa Energy Dance Team, Ricker Hermann, Jake Nadermann, Bill Kallestad, Triad Gymnastics Team, and Treasa Bittner.

Creative Community Options (CCO) Becomes Candeo

November 8, 2008

We are very excited to announce a big change for Creative Community Options. After 16 years as CCO we are changing our name to Candeo, with the tagline “Your Abilities. Your Choices.” As we work together to increase our awareness in the community through a grant we received from the McLellan Marketing Group, we felt this was a good time to make the change.

Candeo (can DAY oh) is Latin, meaning “to grow, to shine, to grow brilliant.” We hope that you will join us in embracing our new name.

We are very fortunate to have been selected from more than 50 applicants to receive the services and expertise of the McLellan Marketing Group. MMG has helped us choose our new name; develop our new logo, tagline, mission, vision and values statement; and have been assisting us with the transition. We are currently developing new brochures and updating our Web site. With this change, we will also begin to refer to our colleagues as our clients. This will bring us in-line with the rest of the human service industry and more clearly define to whom we provide our services.

Our main contact information remains the same, but email addresses have been changed.

Website: www.candeoiowa.org

Marcy Davis, CEO: marcy.davis@candeoiowa.org

All other staff follows the same prototype (firstname.lastname@candeoiowa.org).

Please know that only our name has changed. We will continue to provide the same great services to our clients as we have in the past. We will constantly work to fulfill our mission to inspire our clients to achieve their personal goals and attain our vision to be the most trusted provider of client services in Iowa.
